Welcome to the Monroe County Democratic Committee website. Here you can learn about the party, our candidates, upcoming events and the major issues at stake in 2011. I hope you’ll enjoy it and find it informative.
This year’s local election may well be the most important of the past decade. The county executive’s office, district attorney, and all 29 county legislators are on the ballot, as are many town and village candidates. In each and every race, we have to ask ourselves: What kind of community do we want to be? What kind of future do we want for ourselves and for our children? We can continue with a stagnant economy, the highest property taxes in the nation and a county government mired in costly political scandals and looming deficits. Or we can follow the example set by Gov. Cuomo, who in less than a year has capped property taxes, brought about a new era of fiscal responsibility and enacted the most sweeping ethics reforms in Albany history. Monroe County Democrats are fortunate to have a truly outstanding slate at this difficult time. We are particularly proud of Sandy Frankel, who after 20 years of extraordinary work in Brighton is ready to lead as county executive, and Sandra Doorley, whose two decades in the District Attorney’s Office make her the only candidate with the experience necessary to keep our families safe. Between now and Tuesday, Nov. 8, I hope you’ll join us at Democratic headquarters as we work to reclaim county government for the people and taxpayers it is meant to serve. I look forward to seeing you, and as always feel free to contact me 232-2410.
